An Eye for Talent

“The paper industry is a great place to grow—with multiple, challenging career opportunities.”

When Alex Gallert first came to work for Glatfelter’s advanced airlaid facility as the human resources manager in Falkenhagen, Germany, he was impressed by the company’s 150+ year history and expansive product portfolio.

But, he admits, he didn’t think the paper industry was that complicated. He soon discovered the “story behind the story” found within the advanced technology and specialized knowledge Glatfelter PEOPLE use around the globe.

Gallert works to ensure that the facility has talented, young employees working alongside experienced, knowledgeable employees to “create momentum that drives us forward.” Together with his team, he manages the facility’s apprenticeship program and conducts brand-building activities with schools and universities to establish Glatfelter as an employer of choice in the region. Other duties include recruitment, organizational development, leadership training, coaching/mentoring, and managing payroll.

One thing Gallert knows for sure: No two days are the same. “I enjoy the challenge of reacting fast to shifting priorities while keeping the long-term course,” he says.
